Dogecoin to Power Mobile Games via DogeOS and PlaysOut

by Adrian Russell

Dogecoin is set to power a range of upcoming mobile games, marking one of the most structured attempts yet to give the cryptocurrency a role.

A total of 15 casual games are expected to launch by the end of 2025, with the first release scheduled for August. The games will be built on DogeOS, a new infrastructure layer on the Dogecoin blockchain, and published by PlaysOut, a firm that localises and distributes mobile games internationally.

The initiative will allow players to earn Dogecoin through in-game activities, whilst some items and visual features will be tradable as Dogecoin-native NFTs, known as Doginals. The games will be available via the MyDoge wallet and the PlaysOut app, with potential expansion to other platforms in future.

What is DogeOS?

DogeOS is an application layer built on top of the Dogecoin blockchain. It is EVM-compatible, meaning it can support applications similar to those on other Ethereum-based networks.

Currently in its testnet phase, DogeOS is intended to make it easier for developers to build games and other applications using Dogecoin as the underlying network.

The platform will serve as the foundation for the upcoming series of mini-games, enabling features such as token rewards, item tracking, and basic interoperability between titles.

What is PlaysOut?

PlaysOut is a mini-game publisher that works with developers—primarily those who have released successful games on platforms such as WeChat—and adapts those games for Western and international audiences. Its work typically includes translation, rebranding, and distribution across mobile apps and messaging platforms.

For this project, PlaysOut will localise the games and integrate Dogecoin-related visuals, including elements tied to the original Doge meme.

The publisher has also said it is pursuing licensing agreements to incorporate well-known characters and franchises into future game releases, with announcements expected later in 2025.

What can we expect from these games?

The upcoming games will fall under the “hypercasual” category, with genres ranging from puzzle and simulation to role-playing. They are designed to be accessible, requiring little onboarding or prior experience.

Players will be able to earn Dogecoin through participation in game events, challenges, and leaderboards. Some games will also include collectible in-game items, which may be minted as Doginals—NFTs that operate on the Dogecoin network. These assets may be tradable across different games, though the full extent of this feature is not yet confirmed.

The first title is expected to launch in August via the MyDoge wallet and PlaysOut’s own app. Further releases are planned throughout the year, with the publisher indicating that future development may be adjusted based on user feedback and performance metrics.
